Busy Week

Well, I knew it was going to be a busy week, and I wasn't disappointed! After my last post, I continued on with my classes for the day. I went home for about 15 minutes, and then it was off to a meeting for the fund raising. It was a successful meeting, one that I conducted this time around, and there were some good ideas brought up. Hopefully we can make good on some of them and raise a good bit of $$. Wednesday I woke up not feeling real hot, so I just kind of went through the motions of the day, and tried to study for my Calculus test that I was having on Thursday. Got the test results back on Thursday from my Science test. Let me preface my score with this: The average for the class was only 70%, I got an 83%. I was happy with that, Science is not one of my better subjects, and the test was all open ended questions, NO multiple choice or T/F, so you either had to know what you were talking about or at least b.s. your way through it. Had the Calc. test Thursday, not sure how I did, I hate to speculate on those. Whenever I think I did well I don't and vice versa. Hopefully I will know sometime in the next day or two. I went to dinner with my best friend last night, had a good time as usual, then came home and collapsed. Today, as you all now know was sno cone day. I am happy to report that we sold $117 worth of cones today!! It gets better every week. Next Friday we get a little break as there is no school. Needless to say I am exhausted both mentally and physically today. Next week proves to be equally challenging. I have a Sociology test, and yet another Calculus test.
Some good news, my brother is coming home tomorrow for the weekend!! I am looking forward to seeing him, it has been a few months, and I know when he moves to NY at the end of October, I will see him even less frequent. I am thinking a NY vacation may be in order sometime in the next 6 months or so - we'll see!
One of my favorite topics to discuss is the Tropics.... guess what, there is another depression out there - that would be #19 for the season so far with another one close to developing. It has been an insane season. Hopefully neither of these or the other wave they are watching will effect us.
Ok, that's all for now, just wanted to post for those of you who actually take the time to read this so you don't think I fell off the face of the earth. Have a good weekend everyone!!

Just thoughts

I am sitting here in the library of Miami-Dade College, enjoying a bit of peace and quiet in between classes. I had my first of 3 tests this morning, not sure how I did, some of the questions were out of the blue, and others I knew cold. This was the first test in that class, so at least now I know what to expect for the next couple of ones. I was supposed to have 2 tests on Thursday (one in my Multicultural class, and one in Calculus), but today my Multicultural professor got pissed off at the class and ended the discussion early, and also postponed the test to the next Tuesday. I am not sure what got her so upset, we were having open discussions about being prejudice, and I thought everyone was being "adult" about it, maybe she saw something I didn't. Anyway, I am glad she postponed the test, gives me more time to study for Calculus.
So Demi and Ashton got married - who cares! I wonder if they get as tired of hearing about their relationship as we do? I know I wouldnt want my dirty laundry aired over the radio and television. I guess that is the price you pay for being "rich and famous". I do envy, well, maybe that isn't the right word, but for lack of a better one I will use it, the relationship Demi seems to have with her ex. My ex and I have an amicable relationship, but I certainly wouldnt invite him over on holidays, or for that matter to my wedding (not that I ever plan on remarrying!!), and I certainly wasn't invited to his.
I wish I could tell you the tropics were quiet right now, but they are as active as ever. It is kind of humorous to watch the weather on the news, they have all these "disturbances" and "waves" circled on the map, and then tell us not to worry, but keep an eye on them. Yea, ok, sure.....
Ok, going to use the rest of my break time to do something productive, like study!!

Aftermath of Rita

It looks to me that Louisiana is on the "hit" list this year, much like Florida was last year. Just when you think you are done with the storms, you get hit with another. Yea, we have had 3 brushes so far this year, but they have been "baby" storms compared to Katrina when she hit Louisiana, and Rita when she made land fall in Lake Charles. One thing that frustrates me is that they keep comparing Rita to Katrina, saying it wasn't that bad. If it is your home that gets destroyed, it IS that bad. To me it is like saying, yea, he was murdered, but he was only shot one time, when this guy was shot 100 times - guess what, they are both still dead! I am glad to see that most people got out like they were advised to do. One down side to the hurricane not being as bad as expected is that residents may not heed the advice of authorities next time when they say to leave, and next time they may not be so lucky. Let's just hope there isn't a next time!
On a lighter note, this week is going to be fun for me. I have 3 tests, a meeting on Tuesday night, and of course sno-cones on Friday. You can almost feel a change in the air the last few days. The humidity hasn't been quite as high, and the temperature only in the upper 80's. It takes about 10 minutes to break into a sweat after stepping outside as compared to 5 minutes! I hope it starts to cool off soon, it has been a miserable couple of months.
Have to go study now, and of course the laundry is calling my name, and I am sure my son will be "I'm Hunrgy"-ing me soon. Enjoy your Sunday everyone!
