No more blue roof!!
Today must be my lucky day - I am getting a new roof! As I sit here and type, the guys are up on the roof making all kinds of racket. It is going to make studying here impossible today, so soon I will be headed to the campus to catch up on some homework. Classes are going well. I did better on my last calculus test than the first which is always a good thing. I am hanging on to a B average in there, but it has been a challenge. The challenge for me is not knowing the material, it is testing on it. Before each test and quiz, a group of us get together and study - well, I teach. I can explain how to do most of the material, but come test time, I freeze, then panic. It was so bad on the last test, I was working on one problem (a graph in 3-space) for so long that the professor told me to turn the page and move on. I think she could see the frustration on my face. I did wind up missing that problem (I had one image in my head of what I thought it should be, and tried to fit the formula to what I was "seeing" - only problem is, it was the wrong image! It was kind of like trying to fit a square peg in a round hole). Geology is thrilling - I have to take a test today on glaciers, mountains, earthquakes, tsunamis and plate tectonics zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Zach has FCAT's this week and next so he is a bit stressed. This week is math and the beginning of reading - the math is ok, it is the reading that stresses him out. Next week concludes the reading then goes into the science and social studies. The only good thing about FCAT weeks are less homework, and the teachers tend to try and make the kids relax a bit. Spring break is just around the corner for him and he can't wait. Also just around the corner is a trip to Vegas. This trip will be a bit more special because Michael is coming along. He has been to Vegas twice, but never as an "adult" with the ability to gamble and even hang out in the casino. Hopefully he will bring some beginners luck with us. Mike's wrist is doing ok. He is starting to get some more movement in it, but not so much strength yet. It will take time, but I think eventually it will be good as new. He is really anxious about getting out and throwing a baseball again. Other than that nothing new. Work is ok - not working a lot, just enough to keep groceries in the house, now I just have to find time to buy groceries!! It is nice not having any real responsibility at work. I go in, do my thing, leave, no hassle, no headache. Speaking of headache, I need to get out of here, this noise is driving me nuts!
