Happy Thanksgiving!!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!
It's hard to believe another year has gone by already. It seems like just yesterday we were stuffing ourselves with turkey and all the good stuff that goes with it, and making fun of my Uncle and his new glasses. This has been an eventful year, and we have lots to be thankful for. Remember, you have to look at the positive side of life without being naive. We "survived" many hurricanes and hurricane threats this year with really minimal damage compared to what it could have been. My family is healthy for the most part, no dreaded diseases (does insanity count?), which is always something to be happy about. Of course our friends that help keep us sane throughout our crazy lives, but mostly our families for just being there and sticking together, providing each other with if nothing else a shoulder to lean on especially this past hurricane season when it seemed we would all simply lose our minds.
Mike made it home safe and sound. It is so good to have him here, wish it were permanent, but I know he has to grow up (yea, ok!) and go on with his life, he can't stay home forever. He looks good, still as skinny as ever, but I think he may have actually finally stopped growing!
Well, here is a surprise, still no blue roof! I am not holding my breath anymore, I am tired of turning blue over a blue roof. It'll get here eventually I hope, and if not, well...
I hope everyone has a wonderful, safe, and filling Thanksgiving! Remember, only 30 shopping days till Christmas!!!

And 1!

Only one more day till Mike's arrival, can't wait. Tomorrow is Zach's Thanksgiving feast at school, I am in charge of mashed potatoes and brownies, so will be busy this evening peeling potatoes and baking the brownies. I have classes and a test tomorrow, so have to prepare the food tonight, and finish it off in the morning. Speaking of classes, gotta run!

What a difference 24 hours make

Twenty four hours ago, we in South Florida were trying to figure out how we were going to prepare for Tropical Storm Gamma. Twenty four hours ago my parents were still dealing with a leaky roof. Twenty four hours ago I still had no word on if I was ever going to get a blue roof. Twenty four hours ago, I thought I would lose my mind! Now, 24 hours later, my parents have a blue roof, Gamma is no longer a threat, and I finally heard from FEMA regarding my roof. Two gentlemen from FEMA came to "inspect" my blue roof today. They actually noticed that it wasn't done (not a hard task), and made a phone call for me to expedite the process. They explained that this isn't the first time the wrong house had been done, and were very apologetic. I thanked them for their help, and they said it will be 3-5 days, but I will be blue! What a difference 24 hours make! Oh, and 2 days till Mike comes home!!!
