Back to routine

Well, lets see..what has happened in the last 2 weeks?? We have gotten back into a routine which is really never a bad thing. Just before returning to work (school) I got the flu and was down and out for a few days. That is never fun, and to be quite honest I am still not 100%. I missed one day of work when I couldn't even get off the couch. The boys took good care of me making me soup and juice and waiting on me hand and foot. Zach even tried cooling me down with a wash cloth. Miraculously they didn't get the flu from me.

Zach got his report card just the other day and did real well. He got two "A"'s and the rest "B"'s. I am very proud of him. He got a new teacher in math this past Friday, so we will see how that goes. Zach also made the school softball team and they won their first game last week. They have another game tomorrow, hopefully they will do well. He is enjoying being part of the team. I believe he is the only 6th grader on this varsity team which is an accomplishment. He is really a good kid. All of the neighborhood kid's parents love him to death and have told me that when their kids are with Zach they don't worry because they know Zach will do the right thing. He is sorta the leader of the gang so to speak.

Mike is doing well. He is still working at the JCC coaching baseball. They had a Christmas camp so he kept pretty busy for those two weeks. He also tried out for the Israel Baseball League on Dec. 29th. He was told that day that he and his friend Ray made the first cut and to call back in a few weeks to see if they actually made the team. He was a bit concerned because of his batting (he did not try out for pitcher), but just a few days after the tryout he and Ray were both handed a contract to play!! What exactly does this mean?? It means this summer they will be traveling to Israel to play ball - all expenses paid. They also will be paid at the end of the season for just playing. Although it is a bit scary to have them going half way across the world and not to exactly the most ideal place, I think it is going to be a great experience for them both. Mike walks around sporting a tshirt that says "Baseball in Israel?" "Vy Not".

I have been bouncing around subbing. It is kind of fun, but I like the idea of having my own class and knowing where I am going everyday. This is more like babysitting than teaching. I have been pretty lucky so far in that I have had good classes. I haven't written a single referral since I've been out of ESE!!! I am sure eventually I will get a challenging class.
